Microbial Infections: A global health crisis claiming 13.7 million lives annually and impacting 10% of world’s GDP.
We bring rapid definitive microbial test to the point of care
The Problems associated with contemporary microbial tests lie in their limitation in delivering rapid, definitive detection at the point of care, informing both identification and antimicrobial susceptibility. Gold-standard culture-based tests are lab-based and take nearly 3 days. Polymerase chain reaction-based tests have improved in their turnaround time and ease of use but largely limited to detecting a small number of species and genotypic resistance, failing to provide definitive detection.
Cromerix is set to bring a paradigm change by delivering a rapid, definitive, point-of-care microbial test, which determines microbial load and antimicrobial susceptibility for a broad range of species. The simple, single-step and affordable test supports widespread adoption across home, community, hospital and industry settings.
How our test works
Cromerix’s test detects microbial load within 5 minutes and phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility within 20 minutes.
How to perform the Microbial Load test
- Simply add the sample to the test tube pre-filled with Cromerix probes.
The probes bind to the target microbes and readily turn on fluorescence, the intensity of which is measured by a reader and results displayed on a GUI and shared wirelessly where needed.
How to perform the Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test
- Simply add the sample to the test tube pre-filled with Cromerix probes and the antimicrobial of interest
The reader measures changes in fluorescence intensity as the microbes respond to the antimicrobial over a 20-minute incubation period and confirms susceptibility/resistance. The test can be performed in parallel for multiple antimicrobials and dosages.
Test formats
- A multi-sample high-throughput format using a microplate reader, or
- A point-of-care format for a limited number of samples using a handheld reader.
